Each group must keep a project
notebook. Guidelines for the notebook are as follows:
- A project notebook is a folder in an online document
storage location such as Google Docs, Dropbox or OneDrive.
You must give the instructor edit access to allow comments
to be added to the documents you submit. The title of the
folder should include the words "SYST 210" and your group
number (for example, "SYST 210 Project Notebook Group 5").
- The notebook must be clearly organized by
deliverable, and must provide a way for the instructor to
make comments
on each deliverable. Your project name, group number, and
group members
must
be clearly marked. The easiest way to do this is to have a
top-level
folder for your group, and a sub-folder for each
deliverable. Each folder and each
file should have your group number in the name (for example:
"Group 3
Deliverable 1.docx"
- The notebook must have a section (subfolder) for meeting
minutes. Whenever your
group meets, someone must take minutes. This includes phone
and online meetings. We will discuss in class
the basics of running a good meeting. The meeting
minutes should
include an agenda, a description of what happened at the
meeting, and a
list of action items. You will lose points if you do not keep
up-to-date meeting minutes.
- There must be a section (subfolder)
for your consensus self and peer
evaluations. This section contains an activity log for
each group
member with dates indicating when each activity was
performed.. It should be updated with every
deliverable. A good way to do this is to keep a spreadsheet
with a tab for each group member, a column for date
and a column for a description of what you did
on that date. Each group member logs his or her
activities in his or her sheet. The log will contribute to
your individual
grade.
- There must be sections for the final report and final
briefing slides.
- You
will add each deliverable to its section when it is
finished. I will make comments on what you hand
in. You must give me edit access to your
deliverables so I can make comments. You may
revise your deliverables in response to my comments and
obtain
additional comments at any time until the final project is
handed
in. Please clearly mark any revisions for which you
would like
comments.
- A Blackboard assignment will be posted for each
deliverable. In response to the assignment, you must submit
a link to your project notebook and a link to the
deliverable.
- All groups submit their final report on Blackboard at the
end of the semester,
along with softcopy of the CORE model and the final
briefing. If you keep a hardcopy notebook, you must
turn in softcopy of
your CORE
model, your final report, and your final briefing. You can
upload this to Blackboard.
Professionalism counts toward your grade. Your project
notebooks
should be well-organized and up to date.
